As in 2023 and 2024, Skyword will only be providing contributors with a 1099 form this year if we sent you a direct payment for services rendered. If you only received payments from Skyword through PayPal, we encourage you check the Statements & Tax Center (for individual accounts) or the Tax Statements Page (for business accounts) to confirm if you received a 1099 from PayPal. Please note that PayPal estimates these will be available around January 31st.
To support your need to meet your tax reporting requirements, we have created this article to help explain how you can easily export your total annual earnings using the Skyword360 platform.
To capture your total earnings, start by signing into the platform. The first page you'll see is your main Skyword360 dashboard. On this page, go to the top right-hand rail and click on View Payments.
On the Payments page, adjust the Start Month/Start Year to December 2022 and then the End Month/End Year to December 2023 so that you capture all payments that have been paid out within the calendar year. Then click Update.
This layout includes an itemized list of each assignment: when the payment was ultimately issued via PayPal (paid), the date the income was earned, the channel it was created for, the approval activity, the title/description of the asset, and the amount earned.
If you are using your payment summary for your reporting purposes, you'll want to be mindful of Date Paid as a marker of your annual earnings. For example:
- If content was EARNED between 12/1/2023-12/15/2024 it will have a DATE PAID of 12/31/2023 (and you can delete that row once exported to Excel)
- If content was EARNED between 12/16/2023-12/31/2023 it will have a DATE PAID of 1/15/2024
- If content was EARNED between 12/1/2024-12/15/2024 it will have a DATE PAID of 12/31/2024
- If content was EARNED between 12/16/2024-12/31/2024 it will have a DATE PAID of 1/15/2025 (and you can delete that row once exported to Excel)
Once you've captured all the information you need, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Export: Excel link.
This will automatically create an Excel version of the same itemized list the platform generated. You may need to re-format the date cells at this stage using the Excel formatting features. Go to the top toolbar, click Format > Cells > Date > and then 3/14/12 for easy visibility.
